Tutorial: Submitting an Entry and Editing Your Submission

When you've written your entry for the week and are ready to submit it, go to the appropriate post - this will be linked in the daily reminders or can be found using the "topic post" tag. The submissions will look like this:

Copy the URL of your entry, which you have already posted in your personal or writing journal. Paste it in the appropriate box, whether it's "Please link your Week ? entries here" or "Submit your Just For Fun entries here." In the last text box, give an approximate word count of your entry; warn the community of any adult content, possible triggers, high ratings, or if your entry is not safe for work (NSFW); let us know its genre (poetry/fiction/nonfiction/script); and share any other notes.

If you would like to sign up to receive an edit on your entry, you can select from three different levels of intensity as well as opt out of a grammar check. Simply click the button next to your choice. Here is an example of how your submission might look:

Now, click "Submit Poll." Your entry has now been submitted and will be included in the weekly poll! The poll will look similar to this after you have submitted your entry:

If you'd like to be sure your entry linked correctly or read other contestant's entries before the poll is posted, you can click on "View Answers" under each submission block. Here is how it might look after you do that:

If you notice an error in your submission or change your mind about the level of editing you requested, it's easy to fix! Simply click on the link above the poll that says "Click here to edit your submission." It will bring you to a page that looks the way the poll did before you submitted; you may fix what you need to and click "Submit Poll" for your updated submission to show.

If the moderator ever forgets to post that link, there's another way to get to it! Simply click on the link at the top of the poll that says "Poll #1586231" (or this particular poll's number). It will take you to this page:

Now, click on "Fill out Poll" on the left side and make your changes. Don't forget to click "Submit Poll" when you're done!

If you were going to submit an entry, you're too late! However, if you were only going to update the warnings on your entry, you may want to PM the moderator in charge of polls with the new information to be sure the appropriate warnings are posted along with the poll. You can also PM the moderator in charge of the editing team to change your request.
