Shadowdream

Bounty, poetry, and warfare. All three, given into the hands of mere humans, but I wonder if the gods and goddesses of old thought themselves truly generous. Perhaps, the first two are meant to compensate for the last? Regardless, we know that humankind actively seeks bounty; we crave creative outlet, and since war has been present in every age it stands to reason that there are humans who seek it out as well.
When considering these three, we must consider that it's possible for bounty to exist in both creativity and war. War, regardless of the scale, always has a profiteer. Yes, bounty will most definitely visit the warmongers, but it lives eternally in the works of those who choose to create rather than destroy.
An artist, be it a writer of prose or poetry, finds bounty in inspiration, in the actual act of creating, and in sharing their work. When those of us, even on an amateur level, manage to put pen to paper and release our truest selves into words-- we've done far more than profit.
Today's featured writer has wrestled with muses and toiled over a specific piece until the words came and pleased her well. It's my pleasure to introduce you to Shadowdream, my darlings!
Bio:
Hello all! Shadowdream, Deanna to those who know me off the interwebs, here. I live in Michigan with my hubby, a good friend of ours, and our pug, Popeye. I'm not very good at talking about myself, so excuse me if I ramble. The best way to get to know me is to talk to me!
I'm a massage therapist, embarking on the crazy road that is starting a business, along with my husband who is a personal trainer. We've been married for 9 years now, and are still attached at the hip.
I'm a gamer (from pen and paper rpg's to video games) and a geek. When not goofing on the computer, I love being out in nature. I kayak from the day the river thaws, to the time it starts to freeze over again. (THAW already!!!) I dabble in nature photography, and hope to get some of my kayaking shots published someday.
I'm also a history geek, and a SCAdian. I sew, I cook, and I fight. I am a fairly good fencer, and enjoy fighting with heavier swords as well.
I've been writing as long as I can remember. I wrote silly short stories as a kid, moved on to poetry as I got older, and now write a little bit of everything.
I'm an artist at heart. I always need to be creating something. What that is varies depending on which muse strikes. Sometimes I'll have long spurts where I draw and paint and can't write a thing. Sometimes it will be crafts, other times, music.
These muses don't seem to get along, however. When one is around, the others seem to disappear. Right now, the writing muse, who had deserted me for a few years, seems to be in charge. In good part, this is due to the Flame, and the wonderful community here!
The Chosen Piece:
This one wasn't written for the flame, but is one I'm pretty proud of.
