Hwango

The announcement came Friday, that our lovely community has grown to 1000 members in only sixteen months time!! By way of celebration, I would like to introduce to y'all, an oldie but a goodie! :D Make a warm welcome, ladies and gents, for Hwango! Not only is Hwango a talented writer, he is also makes lovely artwork for the community.
Bio:
"Once upon a time, I wrote instruction manuals and help documentation for software and other technical thingamajigs. Then that career sort of fell apart on me, and since then I've been trying to break into freelance art for gaming companies and whatnot. (My favorites from my art gallery live at hwango.deviantart.com/favourites/#Best-Stuff ). I've had a few things published, but it's a tough industry to break into. Still, I keep trying. I also design board games, and hope to someday get one of those published too.
"Many years ago a friend of mine organized a writing project in which he gave all of the participants the same list of five ingredients to work into a story. It was interesting to see the different paths each of us took with our stories and the different way in which we used each element. When brigits_flame showed up in the LJ spotlight last summer I was reminded of that project, and I thought I'd join up and give it a try, eager to see the variety of pieces that would emerge from the same prompt.
"Since then I've written about a pair of thugs on a long night's work, some tea-drinking botanists visiting the most dangerous place in the world, a failed mad scientist, a foolish king who doomed his people, a reluctant conqueror, an inter-dimensional wine cellar, an end of the world scenario in which everyone gets a kitten, an overworked demon, the creation of the earth, an obsessed alchemist, a cranky archaeologist who constantly runs afoul of the supernatural, a pumpkin-growing contest fraught with peril, the new tooth fairy, a traumatized policeman, a mad explorer, a conspiracy to keep souls out of heaven, a delusional monster-hunter, and all kinds of other insanity. My brain is full of weirdness."
The Chosen Piece: "Mud"
"For September '08 I decided to try serial fiction for the second time, hoping to work all four topics from the month into a continuous storyline. My first task was to come up with characters and a setting that I would enjoy writing about for an entire month. Each story had to be self contained, build upon those that came before it, and leave room for more material in the weeks to follow. It was a fun challenge and I'm glad I did it, but I haven't tried it again since. = )
"I think my writing has improved over the last year, but I still remember how much I enjoyed writing those stories, so I thought I'd point people back to the first episode."
